4-day block on Art in Context in Berlin, September 20th through 23rd 2021

 

I can offer 12 graduates a 4-day block on art in context, sculpture, intervention, installation, competition. The mentoring will take place in the 38th week, from 20-23 September 2021 in Berlin - This is an invitation to former masters, diploma and master students, i.e. graduates in fine arts from recent years. There are no costs for the week block itself. A bicycle should be brought along on the second day.

 

Day 1, Monday 20 September 2021 (10 hours)

 

In the morning: depending on the number of participants, getting to know each other in the garden of Ackerstraße 18, 2nd courtyard, 10115 Berlin, or Atelier Fritz Balthaus, introductory lecture on the topic. The selection of artistic works discussed and visited below may be extended by suggestions from the participants.

 

Afternoon: Cycling to see artworks in the public context of Berlin, in Mitte: Christian Boltanski, Kleine Hamburger Straße, Peter Friedl, Poll Foundation, Renata Lucas, KW, Lawrence Weiner, Hoffmann Collection, Thomas Locher, Gipshöfe, Rolf Wicker on the forecourt; Grimm Library, Micha Ullman, Bebelplatz; Fritz Balthaus 6 holes; Franka Hörnschemeyer, Bundestag; Via Lewandowsky, Federal Ministry of Defence; Reich Chancellery marble in the Hausvogteiplatz underground;

 

Day 2, Tuesday 21 September 2021 (10 hours).

Full day: Viewing artworks in the public context of Berlin by bicycle: Heizkraftwerk Mitte: Ayse Erkmen, Dan Graham, Per Kirkeby, Thomas Bayrle; Kreuzberg: Fritz Balthaus, Marked Space Unmarked Space, Berlinische Galerie, Ayse Erkmen, Heinrichplatz; Sol Lewitt, Family Court; Richard Serra, Philharmonie; Norbert Radermacher, next to Neuer Nationalgalerie; Abschluss Braco Dimitrijević, Schloßpark Charlottenburg, plus new works by, among others, the two artists 'Missing Link' which is currently in progress.

 

Day 3, Wednesday 22 September (8 hours).

Full day: Atelier Fritz Balthaus, Ackerstraße 81, 13355 Berlin-Wedding; individual works of the participants will be looked at and future strategies will be developed in individual discussions.

 

Day 4, Thursday 23 September (8 hours).

Full day: Atelier Fritz Balthaus, Ackerstraße 81, 13355 Berlin-Wedding; In individual discussions, individual works of the participants will be viewed and future strategies developed.
